European Documentation Centres help universities and research institutes to promote and develop education and research on European integration, encourage them to take part in the debate on Europe and help ordinary citizens to learn about the Union's policies.
The EDCs are set up by written agreeement between the host structure (the University) and the European Comission.

The objectives of the EDCs |

The objectives of the EDCs are to:
- help the host structure promote and consolidate teaching and research in the field of European integration;
- make information on the European Union and its policies available to the public, both university-based and other;
- participate in the debate on the European Union, where appropriate with other European information relays and networks.
The EDCs offer publications of the European Union institutions, distributed free of charge by Community institutions (the Office for Official Publications of the European Communities in Luxembourg).
